I love stories that present themselves as one thing, but are actually very different. These plot twists stay in my mind long after the story is done.
I recently had a violent dream about a couple staying in a rundown motel. As the dream continued I wondered if it was real. My dream camera eye pulled back and I could see this dream was just a show. So my dream was about a couple pretending to stay in a rundown motel. The studio audience and the online streaming audience clearly meant this was performance art and not real life.
When I woke up I thought about some of the movies I’ve seen that have amazing plot twists:

I wonder if I’ll ever be able to write a story or a book that has a memorable plot twist that resonates in readers’ minds for years and years.
