Hi dad,
I found two CDs of music that I wrote and had performed in Cape Town. Wow, they brought back some good memories! I think I still have a lot in me - music, words, ideas… I hope I get enough time in this world, this life, to do some more of them justice!
My green tea (cold) is half now. I’m at my usual breakfast shop.
Do you have trouble waking up in the mornings? I do. I got to bed at 11PM last night, and when I woke up at 7AM (8 hours later!) I had a tough time getting up. I’m still trying to figure out a good sleeping pattern. Usually I get to bed at about 12AM (midnight) and drag myself out of bed at 7AM, after waking up at 6:30AM. I want to get more out of my mornings, as this is the only real free time that I have. I go to work (and lunch) around 12PM (midday) and get home a little before 10PM. At home I eat a light snack and some fruit before taking a shower. After my shower I play the piano or violin for 10 or 15 minutes before settling in to read a bit and to chat to Nicole about the day. She is busy studying for a work test in December.
I get to bed early on Wednesdays because I finish work early.
So you can see my free time is from 7AM to 12PM. Only 5 hours. On Mondays and Wednesdays I teach Evan and Kevin from 11 to 12. And on Fridays I have my violin class from 11 to 12. Sigh.
I want to do an MA (TESOL) from ASTON University (in England) by correspondence. But I need to dedicate 2 hours a day to do it - for at least 2 years. It is also quite expensive (about R100,000).
Basically I am too busy and tired to do the MA. I teach out 2 new classes at home on Saturdays, 10:30-12:00 and 1:30-3:00. On Sundays I teach Claire 4:30-6:00.
I work every day!
I also want to learn Chinese properly (to read, write, and speak it). I just don’t have energy for that.
Too many things to do, and not enough time to do them in! I guess you have had this problem, too? Or is it just me?
This is fun!
I ordered another green tea so that I can write some more. It’s 8:50 now. I have to work on my book, practice my piano and violin, and write a lot of reports for my students. I’m proud of all my students.
Oh yes, I also want to spend some time on my bicycle - 20 minutes. It’s getting a bit cold to swim now. I love this weather! No need for unhealthy aircon. One fan is enough. It’s not too hot. Just perfect to sit at a tea shop all day sipping green tea and writing letters, poems… whatever!
“Chat” again soon!
